Software tools are used
to systematically analyze designs using the customer supplied CAD
data that results in a formal DFM report that is presented to the
customer. The report includes information related to the PCB construction,
component layout, assembly process requirements, and test pad accessibility.
By using the analysis and implementing its recommendations, assembly
and test strategies can be determined before production begins,
and costs can usually be reduced.
